5 Levels of Depth as Value

My kid once chose a birthday venue that, on paper, ticks all the boxes. It was exciting enough but not dangerous, and both loud and colorful but in an almost surgically inoffensive way. Technically, everybody had proper amounts of fun and cake, but the experience was so bland it reminded me of a conveyor belt that slowly pushed kids toward the exit.

In short, they did their job in a very shallow, level 2 (see below) manner of speaking.

And people

The more context a service requires, the more differences in the depth of work affect the resulting value._ Here’s an overview of how that works:

– Level 1: Literal scam. Too-good-to-be-true offers, completely fake, criminally low value for the client
– Level 2: Basic service. One-size-fits-all offers, inflexible and impolite, enough value that you can’t sue them
– Level 3: Standard service. Exactly-as-advertised, professionally executed, with moderate value for the client
– Level 4. Personalised service: Made-for-you, practical, and future-proof service that provides high value
– Level 5: Exaggerated service: Over-the-top attention to the smallest details, comically devoted and responsive. Moderate value, but flashy

Risk-averse clients tend to notice and react well to the value of depth on offer. Anybody can claim depth, however, so the key to using it persuasively is showing the cost and sacrifice you make to maintain this high level of service.
